Veneers may not be the best option for every patient, they must be taken care of properly to maintain the long lasting, positive results we promise. Since veneers are almost as strong as your original teeth, you won’t be making drastic changes to your dental routine. Make sure you brush your teeth two times a day, and after meals when possible. Continue flossing twice a day and pairing that with an antiseptic mouthwash, as well. Good oral hygiene is imperative in preventing gum disease, which can negatively affect the structure of your veneers if your gums recede too far away from the base of your veneer.
In addition to at home maintenance, you need to continue visiting us at Gaston Dental Associates every six months. During these visits your dentist will conduct a thorough cleaning and examine your veneers to make sure everything is staying in place and allowing you to maintain your oral health properly. Dental veneers have a long lifespan and are very strong, but an appointment is still recommended every six months just as you would take care of your original teeth! Veneers are very durable but are not quite as strong as regular teeth. Because of this, you should avoid chewing on hard objects, such as ice.
